Our story starts about 2 years ago. We got engaged on September 17, 2010. On September 19, 2010, I got hit by a train. I am lucky to be alive. I was paralyzed on my left side and had to learn to do so many things, that people think nothing about, for the second time. I was on many medications that could possibly affect a pregnancy. Being that I have had two previous miscarriages, I didn’t want to be on any medications that could interfere. My fiancé and I started talking about trying to conceive in August 2011. Once we decided we were going to try, I quit taking my birth control pills. We kept trying and spending tons on pregnancy tests that were negative time and time again. On October 26, 2011, I took one test before church on a Wednesday night and it was inconclusive. I told my girlfriend at church and she said “you’re pregnant!” Right after church we went and got another test; rushed home to take it…..it was POSITIVE!! We both cried tears of joy!! I had a great pregnancy; no morning sickness, no swelling, didn’t gain too much weight, ate right, wasn’t too moody, no crazy cravings, blood work was always great; her heart beat was always strong and in normal range. On June 6, 2012 I went for my routine prenatal visit expecting to get the date for my scheduled c-section. On that day I was 36 weeks and 5 days…..only 2 or 3 weeks and my baby girl would be here. The doctor used the Doppler and couldn’t find her heartbeat. She said let get you an ultrasound. She didn’t say anything during the ultrasound except let’s go to the hospital to get a better ultrasound. My appointment was at 9 am, at 10 am I was admitted into the hospital. They gave me another ultrasound and after hours of waiting the doctor came in and told us she was gone. They decided it would be best to induce my labor instead of surgery because the baby was small. They induced me at 3:30 pm, within 1 hour I dilated to 5 cm within the next hour I was at 7 cm and begging for the epidural!! At 9:22 pm I gave birth to our stillborn Angel Baby Makenna Belle. She was only 3lbs. and 17.5 inches long, she had my mouth, Daddy’s nose and his big feet. I got to hold her, our family got to hold her, my girlfriend took pictures and the hospital took pictures too. No mother should have to give birth and plan a funeral in just a few short days. Holding her in my arms for just those few short hours made me feel so much at peace, knowing she is in a better place. God has plans for everything, even when we don’t understand them. We have to accept them and know that is was for the best! God puts the strongest people through the worst things because He knows we can handle it and use our experiences to help others.
